8. Professional Effectiveness - Inventory & Evidence
Strong evidence of professional effectiveness is a precondition for tenure for faculty without instructional responsibilities. Librarians are specialists in the organization, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of information in all mediums and support the curricular and research needs of faculty and students and the broader mission of the University.
It is expected that ________ will demonstrate professional competence and effectiveness, including the demonstration of skills necessary to perform assigned responsibilities throughout the probationary period. A careful assessment will be made of the performance of assigned responsibilities including the quality of work, soundness of professional judgment, willingness to initiate and complete projects within the Library, and the effectiveness of professional interactions with faculty and students. A. Library Standards and Expectations
________ is expected to demonstrate the following in the performance of his/her/their responsibilities <customize based on the responsibilities of the position>:
Peer Evaluations: While there is no formal structure within the Library for peer evaluations, library faculty interact with and observe the work of their colleagues. Library faculty who interact with _________ on a regular basis will be asked to provide written, signed observations of his/her/their work prior to the beginning of the probationary review process.
Instructional or Other Materials: As part of his/her/their professional responsibility, _________ is expected to develop materials, such as handouts, web pages, reports, procedures, and other resources <customize based on the responsibilities of the position>.
The Library Faculty Peer Review Committee will review the following:

- Effective working relationship with Library faculty, staff, and administrators
- Initiate and/or participate in the development and implementation of projects
- Effectively serve as subject librarian/liaison to assigned departments.

- Other material submitted by ________ to demonstrate professional effectiveness such as (but not limited to):
- Representative instructional or informational material, handouts, web pages and other resources
- Representative reports, policies, procedures, or other resources prepared for use within the scope of his/her/their professional responsibilities
- Examples of how he/she/they has/have applied current and emerging professional practices and technologies in the performance of his/her/their responsibilities
- Representative instructional or informational material, handouts, web pages and other resources
